Top 10 Tips for a Perfect 2010 ….a great way to begin the New Year

By Joan Stokely for GWCC

The most wonderful thing about the start of a New Year, is that it is our chance to begin all over again. Just like the feeling that you got when you opened a new copy book from our younger years or sharpening a dozen new pencils it is the beginning of something new. This new beginning gives us the opportunity to make some changes; changes that improve various aspects of our lives.

Diplomacy, Etiquette and Protocol does not cost much in dollars and cents, but lack of good people skills can cost you more than you can imagine. Here are ten tips to think about as you begin to develop some new goals for the New Year.

1. Write thank you notes for gifts and acts of kindness.

2. Return telephone calls promptly.

3. Reschedule cancelled meetings as quickly as possible.

4. Use Reply-All less.

5. Change Subject in E-mail when the subject changes.

6. Turn off cell phone ringers when appropriate.

7. Don’t text during a conversation.

8. Carry business cards that are current and in good condition.

9. Remember non-business dates and events concerning your clients and let them know you remembered.

10. Dress for the occasion; always look your best.

Wishing you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2010!
