Let’s Go Techno - Save a Tree, Send an Evite - GWCCLet’s Go Techno - Save a Tree, Send an Evite ….or use 100% cotton paper
Holidays are upon us and you can already feel the buzz of the social scene. Percolating holiday invite lists, venue varieties abound, menu selection decisions and one more thing…..the invitation.
Welcome to the 21st Century style of invitations! There are several choices. Engraved for very formal events; raised print for an embossed flair; flat print for a clean, sharp look; hundreds of font selections; fold-over or flat; graphics or plain; and then the paper. Do you want heavy card stock; medium weight card stock; festive paper with holly or symbols of all holiday celebrations framing the page; oh yes, and do you want standard size or custom? Is one postage stamp enough or might it take two?
Did I mention that you have a choice of saving a tree if you select 100% cotton stock? Oh yes, there is another alternative….an Evite.
Evites Evites are electronic online invitations with the added feature of tracking. It is hard to believe that Evites will celebrate their tenth birthday next year. Now, lots of companies offer similar services. Some with costs but most are advertisement sponsored.
Evites Tracking Feature The Evites site sends the invite to your guest list, tracks responses, sends reminders if prompted, shows responses and other data. How about taking the mystery out of the guest list? Invitees can see who was invited. Let’s see who responded and what they said. It is all readily available.
Evites vs. Invites As for making a decision….there are lots of benefits to Evites; the tracking for one, then the friendly reminder for those who do not RSVP, then the ease of sending. On the other hand there is the tangible aspect of the written invitation. The mail delivery arrives with something special, an invitation. The envelope is handwritten or computer printed (not labeled), the stock is heavy and the words bounce off the paper with a warm welcome….come to my party. It is a close competition.
As for me, I am a paper lover. What can I say?
